I am a born and raised Angeleno and that means growing up with plenty of donuts on hand every weekend so donuts are close to my LA heart! I wanted to round up my favorite donut places around town especially since Los Angeles is the donut capital of America, did you know that?! Apparently that came to be in the 1970s when Cambodian refugees, coming to America, were mentored by Ted Ngoy, a Cambodian immigrant, who taught them how to run their own donut shops in order to learn a profitable trade to sustain them and their new life in America. Here’s an interesting article on how Los Angeles became the donut capital of America!

Many months ago my friends and I teamed up with ModCloth to shoot some pics of their Spring looks! I procrastinated for a long time but finally edited up some footage I shot that day! Here are some behind the scenes of our photo shoot at the Los Angeles Flower Market and my amazing, creative friend Amina’s (@StudioMucci) rainbow gem of a place! Thanks so much to Amina and a huge shout out to her husband Sal (@MrStudioMucci) for setting it all up! Also thanks so much to ModCloth for the gorgeous dresses! Thought I’d add some of my Instagram highlight videos here on YouTube for the fun of it and also incase you don’t follow me on Instagram! Back in October of 2018 I was invited by Disneystyle to check out an art piece by Shinique Smith for the Mickey True Original Exhibit before it headed to it’s final home in New York. We’ve been living in the South Bay (Torrance, Lomita, Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches) for about a month now, woohoo and we absolutely have been loving all our weekends! Yesterday we drove by the cutest cafe while dropping @Mobythesuperschnauzer off at his new groomers. As soon as I saw the cute, colorful sign outside of Bites & Bashes Cafe and it’s promises of coffee it was enough for me to make my husband hit the brakes haha!
One of my most favorite past times is cute house hunting haha. I mean, who doesn’t love coming upon an adorable house and dreaming about what it would be like to live there? There are so many amazing, magical houses in the Southern California area and below are a few of my favorites! I don’t remember all of the addresses for these places because some I came upon by sight and some I had to hunt down using only a picture but I’ll try my best. One of my biggest dreams is to visit Paris, France and partake in the splendor that is Ladurée, home of delicious French pastries and the iconic French Macaron. Even though I still dream of going to Paris, going to Ladurée is now a dream come true here in my hometown!
Happy Friday my sweets! Since the weekend is starting I’d like to tell you about one my favorite weekend destinations – The Donut Man in Glendora. Here’s an interesting fact: Did you know that Los Angeles has the highest per capita number of donut shops of any metropolitan area in the United States? Also the proper spelling of “donut” is “doughnut.” I wanted to point that out because today I’m going to use the spelling “donut” because I like the way it looks and it’s shorter so don’t get on to me about using this spelling. I’m a rebel, dang it!
Now with that out of the way, being that there are so many donut shops in LA county you can’t help but notice a donut shop that’s doing it a little bit different. The Donut Man has been in business since 1972 and is like a landmark in Glendora, a donut mecca if you will. One of the most amazing things about Donut Man are their seasonal donuts. In addition to your classic donut shapes and flavors, the Donut Man has 5 signature seasonal flavors – strawberry, peach, peanut butter, pumpkin and cream puff. I didn’t know that peanut butter and cream puffs had a season but if they do then those are my favorite seasons.
The Donut Man is especially famous for their strawberry and peach donuts that really are only available, well seasonally. Actually, last year I had been waiting for them to come out with their peach donut but there was an issue with last year’s peach crop and the peach donuts never came in season =( I’m crossing my fingers for this year! The Donut Man is a stickler for the quality of the fruits that they use which only means that when you get one of these fruit filled gems they are going to be as fresh as fresh can be! Also, do you see the size of these strawberries in this donut!? It’s heavenly!
Next time you’re in Glendora you HAVE to stop by the Donut Man and if you never find your self near Glendora then you just have to go out there. It is definitely worth it, I promise! Also, did you know we sell donut earrings, donut rings and donut cufflinks in the Little Sweet Thing Shop!? Look at these donut-licious things!
Below are some more drool-worthy pictures of Donut Man donuts. Mmmmm, donuts…
